— HOW WE GROW TOGETHER
Curriculum Overview
We pride ourselves on our curriculum as we feel that it closely matches the needs and interests of our children. In the summer term 2020, it was reviewed to ensure the knowledge and skills in the national curriculum were being taught with a clear progression. Each half-term each class will study a topic, through a concept, which will include a variety of subjects. Where possible English and other subjects may be linked to this.
Please look at the information below to find out more about our curriculum or speak with your child's class teacher.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities:
Ecchinswell and Sydmonton CE Primary School is a small, inclusive village primary with three mixed-age classes from Reception to Year 6.
We support children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including autism spectrum conditions, speech and language needs, moderate learning difficulties, specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, and social, emotional and behavioural needs.
Our approach is collaborative - we work closely with external professionals such as educational psychologists and the Primary Behaviour Service to ensure every child receives the right support to thrive.
Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Bailey. You can find Hampshire’s Local Offer here.

At Ecchinswell & Sydmonton, we follow a carefully planned curriculum that balances breadth, depth, and progression. Our structure allows pupils to build knowledge year on year, with key topics revisited and developed over time.
Alongside this, we use a concept-based approach. These core concepts connect learning across subjects, encouraging pupils to think critically, make links, and develop a deeper understanding of the world.

Topic Coverage
We encourage parents and family members to be involved in their child’s learning as much as possible and there are opportunities to visit school and see the work within a topic. Take a look below at the topic coverage for each year group. We work to either a two-year or three-year cycle depending on the class structure. (PDF documents are found below)
Years R,1 and 2 are currently working on Cycle C.
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are currently working on Cycle B.
